What is BMI?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple screening measure that relates your weight to your height. It's calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared (kg/m²).
BMI categories (adults)
- Below 18.5 — Underweight
- 18.5–24.9 — Healthy weight
- 25–29.9 — Overweight
- 30 and above — Obesity
BMI does not account for muscle mass, bone density, or body composition, and is not a diagnosis. Speak with a healthcare provider for a full assessment.
